Virtual choir sessions

In March 2020 we were forced to suspend choir sessions due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. The safety and wellbeing of our members was always our priority but we wanted to keep the music playing, so we put together some virtual sessions which you can watch and sing along to at home!

You’ll find our full warmups and a selection of songs complete with aphasia friendly lyrics in each session video, along with ideas to chat about during the virtual tea break!

The videos were recorded by Becky from the South Gloucestershire Aphasia Choir and Laura and Denise from the Bath Aphasia Choir, with editing and introductions from Emma Richards, our Speech and Language Therapist.

Here are the virtual sessions, with more to be added each week:

  1. This is absolutely amazing – thank you so much for making these incredible virtual sessions available. In the setting of our current COVID-19 situation, I am so thrilled to have such a high-quality resource I can share with my own (cancelled) aphasia singing group members in Australia so they can remain engaged and vocally active during this crazy time. Thank you thank you thank you!

  3. I echo Sharon’s comments. I am so excited to share such a motivating, aphasia-friendly singing resource with my Loud & Proud Singers aphasia chorus in Ann Arbor, Michigan USA. They will so appreciate having both the lyrics & visuals for familiar songs. Many, many thanks for sharing your creative talents and rehearsals with all of us.

  5. These are so beautiful and brilliant. One of the bright stars shining from the darkness of the pandemic, is that we get to see inside each other’s lives a continent away.
I am working with some amazing people in California (U.S.) who are recovering from strokes and other brain injuries this summer, and will share your site. Thank you for inspiring me. I am not a singer, and sang along… It made me so happy. Thank you. Jamey
