Voices of Aphasia Online

In partnership with ReConnect Gloucestershire and Mindsong, Music Therapists Becky and Sharon run a weekly online choir for people who have been affected by stroke and aphasia, and their families and carers. We meet on Monday mornings on Zoom from 10.30am – 11.30am. Our aim is to promote well-being.

What is the choir like?

We begin each session with a warm up and then we sing a range of familiar songs. Aphasia friendly lyrics with key words in bold and supporting visuals are shared on screen. Choir members are invited to join in with as much or as little as they like, and can sing along, hum, sing to ‘la’ or a different sound, or just listen.

During the songs choir members are muted because of the timing differences.

We have a break in the middle of the session so that people can get a drink and connect with one another on screen.  The choir is very friendly and we love welcoming new members to the group. We have a lot of fun together!

We organise choir socials several times a year at The Brockeridge Centre in Frampton Cotterell.

The majority of our members live in South Gloucestershire but we also have members from other parts of the country and the UK. Everyone is welcome!
